 Parish Safeguarding Statement

Within the Diocese and the wider church, we acknowledge that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we all have a part to play in keeping people safe. The Diocese of Leeds is committed to safeguarding as an integral part of the life and ministry of the Church. We affirm the One Church approach to safeguarding children, young people and adults, through the promotion of a sustained and sustainable culture of constant vigilance. The One Church approach refers to the commitment by the Church in England and Wales to using the same policies, procedures, standards and systems in relation to safeguarding according to the CSSA. The Church recognises the personal dignity and rights of children, young people and adults who may be at risk towards whom it has a special responsibility. The Church and all individual members undertake all appropriate steps to: • maintain a safe environment for all. • to practise fully and positively Christ’s Ministry towards children, young people and adults. • to respond sensitively and compassionately to their needs to help keep them safe from harm.
